Angelica Fergurson

This month we have a great weight loss story to share as part of our Spotlight Athlete series. Angelica Fergurson speaks about her weight loss journey and we share her story and feature her as our October Spotlight Athlete.

1. When did you start your fitness journey?

I Started my journey way back in 2011. I was extremally over weight, I weighed in at 250 pounds when I had my daughter in July of 2010. Over the years I would lose the weight just to gain it back. In 2016 I decided to lose weight for my wedding, so I dropped about 100 lbs. By starting Redbird classes and weight training. However, After the wedding and having my second child, I ended up gaining forty pounds back. So, the end of June this year I decided I had to get the weight off and keep it off.

2. What was your first WOD at Redbird or your favorite WOD?

It has been awhile since my first WOD, I don’t have a clue what it was.
As far as a favorite WOD, I really liked “Snickers” which was 30-20-10 power cleans, front squats and push jerks with 65 pounds.

3. What do you do for a living?

I am a Senior Customer Service Representative at CNB Bank and Trust. (In case you were wondering that is just a fancy way of saying Banker)

4. What are your favorite fitness movements and why?

My all-time favorite movements are “The big three” squats, bench and deadlifts. I love finding out what my 1 rep maxes are. Why do I like lifting heavy? Well, I like the pump I get from adding weight and hitting new PRS.

5. What is your biggest accomplishment at the gym since joining Redbird?

I really don’t know what my biggest accomplishment would be. I know since starting I have improved upon many movements and I have developed new skills. I can now do hand stands and wall walks. I am working on pull ups and double unders among other skills.

6. What’s something we don’t know about you?

Humm something you don’t know about me? Well I love listening to Heavy Metal when I lift, and I can write and pick things up with my toes, It’s kind of fun.

7. What superpower would you want to possess and why?

I would pick, super memory! That’s a thing, right? I would be able to remember everything I read! (and I love to read) I could learn so much!
