Ashlee Foster a noon class regular has shown tremendous improvement in all facets of fitness since joining Redbird. She came out of quarantine learning to walk on her hands, butterfly pull ups, and improving her overall endurance. The strides she has made during quarantine and since coming out of quarantine haven’t gone unnoticed by her coaches. Just last week she competed at CrossFit XLT’s Summer Knights Showdown and her team placed 2nd, another testament to her dedication and enthusiasm to fitness. Ashlee is married to Cory Foster, and they have two children, Ryker and Piper. Enjoy learning more about Ashlee below.
1. When did you start your fitness journey?
I began crossfit September 2016. It was about 1 year after I had my second child. I wanted to get in shape after having two kids back to back. I felt sluggish, tired, and not like myself. I wanted to become a total beast and I knew crossfit could get me there.
2. What was your first WOD at Redbird or your favorite WOD?
I'm not sure what my first WOD was at Redbird. I'm honestly not really sure what my favorite wod is! Anything with handstand pushups, push press, deadlifts, and built in rest!
3. What do you do for a living?
I'm a family nurse practitioner at Memorial Physician Services in Jacksonville. I've been an NP for 6 1/2 years and a nurse for 12 years. I love taking care of families and their kiddos. Nothing makes me happier than to help others.
4. What are your favorite fitness movements and why?
I love lifting heavy weight. I need to make new PR's for my clean and C & J! I love pushing movements as I mentioned before-push press, handstand pushups, handstand walks. I also love deadlifts...Oh, and really anything that takes time and skill to accomplish-those are the most fun as they take so much effort. I'm working on muscle ups at the moment!
5. What is your biggest accomplishment at the gym since joining Redbird?
Wow, there are almost too many to even remember. I have really soared since joining Redbird. The support has been phenomenal and nothing is better than working out with 'my people.' I have learned double unders, handstand pushups, butterfly pull-ups and chest to bar pull-ups, I have improved upon toes to bar (barely) and hand stand walks. Never in my life would I ever believe I'd be handstand walking!
6. What’s something we don’t know about you?
I sing throughout the day (anything and everything). Cory says I have the best voice-he's biased. I was in a singing and dancing group in junior high and high school, I also played piano, was artsy, and played golf in high school. I never played team sports in high school. I wasn't competitive in the slightest. Also, I love food...I love baking and cooking both. I hate kitchen clean up, but that's what husbands are for.
7. What superpower would you want to possess and why?
I would love to fly. Obviously, you could transport yourself a lot faster, the views would be incredible, and it would be so much fun. P.S. No free rides.
